Driver CPC

The Driver Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC) is for LGV and PCV drivers who drive professionally throughout the UK.  It has been developed as a requirement of the EU Directive 2003/59, which is designed to improve the knowledge and skills of professional LGV and PCV drivers throughout their working life. There are two parts to the legislation:

  •  The initial qualification must be achieved by new LGV and PCV drivers along with their vocational licence to enable them to use their licence professionally.
  • Periodic training: 35 hours of training every five years must be attended by all professional drivers.
We are an approved Training Centre to deliver Driver CPC training.  We have developed a number of JAUPT approved courses including: Driver's Hours, Digital Tacho's, Drivers Legal Responsibilities, Emergency First Response for Drivers, Fuel Efficiency, Customer Care, Risk Assessments, Manual Handling.

You can split the required 35 hours into several sessions as long as you complete a minimum of 7 hours at any one time.  Once you have completed your 35 hours you will be issued with a DCPC qualification card which must be carried at all times while driving professionally.  Failure to produce this card at the roadside can result in a fine of up to £1,000; and not completing the training will result in forfeiture of the driver qualification.
